Whether it is a neighbor without health insurance, a victim of abuse, or someone struggling with mental illness or an addiction, United Way of Madison County is working to ensure everyone has access to affordable and quality care.

Our Goal:

United Way of Madison County's goal towards health is to reach out to adults and youth in our community to help them avoid risky behavior and be healthier.

We fund programs that provide counseling for mental health and substance abuse issues, and support parents and children who are victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence reaching over 8,000 children and adults annually in our community. We fund programs that help 1,500 children receive medical care and 662 children to receive dental care at their local schools, and programs that educate 18,000 students in grade 3, grade 5, and grade 7 to recognize the signs of sexual abuse and how to inform parents and teachers when abuse is suspected or occurs.

Emergency care is also an aspect of good health for families and children. Knowing who to call when help is needed is an important part of beginning the path to better health. HELP line received crisis intervention calls from 24,461 victims in 2010 giving callers the information needed to receive immediate support, care and counseling leading to opportunitites to be healthier.

By funding programs in our community to help individuals, children and families be healthier we hope to achieve our goal of a 30% increase in healthier youth and adults by 2018.
