Recognizing the untapped potential and power of teenage volunteers and a desire to bring teenagers to the table as stakeholders in our community, United Way of Madison County developed the United Way Youth Leaders Council in 1991. The Council operates on four tenets:  Leadership, Community Education and Training, Community Service, and Fundraising.

The Council brings together students from different schools and socio-economic backgrounds to form a cohesive army of student volunteers working together to achieve the common goal of making our community a better place to live.

Members are required to complete 5 volunteer service hours per month and attend one councill-wide meeting per month, as well as various activities throughout the year.  All traditional, private, and home-school high school students are eligible for membership.

The application process for Council 22, during the 2013-2014 school year, will begin in August of 2013.

For more information or to request an application, contact our office at (256) 536-0745.
